Is It Safe to Travel to Egypt?

Hey Traveller,

If you’re reading this blog, then a very important question is on your mind right now.

Recently, the headlines have been very active in mentioning the Middle East. Several flights have been suspended and tensions are at an all time high. If you booked a recent flight to Egypt (aka. North Africa) or were planning to in the foreseeable future, then this is an up-to-date reality of travelling in Egypt.

The Big Question: Is It Safe Right Now?

The short answer is yes. While there is active regional conflicts involving some neighboring countries, Egypt itself is not a combatant in these hostilities.

Tourism is essential to Egypt’s economy, and the government is maintaining visible security measures to maintain its safety. For the average traveller that sticks to the classic route of

Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, the Red Sea.

the experience there is operating as normally as ever and as peaceful as ever too.

Impact of Recent Regional Conflicts

How has Egypt's "vibe" changed?

     1. Airspace and Flights

All flights in and out of Egypt are operational and in full force if not even more than before. The Egyptian airspace remains fully operational and Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced that higher regulations of safety and preparedness are underway to accept potential aircrafts diverted to the regional conflict.

     2. International Participation

Internationally, Several Egyptian tourism agencies were seen participating normally in the recent ITB Berlin Conference. (Including us yay!)

Also Egypt has just been awarded “Most Promising Destination 2026” Award in Shanghai as well as set out its best historical record yet of 19 million visitors in 2025!

     3. Foreign Travel Advice

Now according to the US Travel Advice, Egypt is listed as a Case 2 Advisory Level country, which advises to exercise increased caution when visiting.

Do you know who else is listed as a Case 2 Country?

  • Belgium
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Germany
  • Hong Kong
  • Italy
  • Maldives
  • Monaco
  • Netherlands
  • Spain
  • THE VATICAN CITY

So if travelling to the Vatican City is as dangerous as travelling to Egypt, then you’re as safe as it comes.

For another safety measure, according to the UK Foreign Office, it has deemed that all travel to Egypt’s major touristic spots to be completely safe. It was last updated on March 10, 2026 so right after the regional conflict reached news headlines.

Let's take a look at this attached map.

Now while the yellow and red parts of this map might freak you out, I’m here to explain why it shouldn't.

As a born and raised Egyptian, I can confidently assure you that the reason why travel never sees these parts of Egypt is because there’s nothing but miles and miles of desert over there.

As you can notice, these areas have no major roads, hence nobody lives there.

  • No pharaoh has left his mark there.
  • Absolutely nothing fun to do as well.

So if you plan to ride a camel and discover these parts with no experience of treading the desert on your casual Sunday morning… don’t.

Final Verdict

Now the point is, If you’re waiting for the Middle East to stay “perfectly quiet” in order to book your flight here, you might never see the Sphinx. Egypt is safe and ready to welcome visitors from all over the world.
