An eight-day private Croatian journey combining the privacy and comfort of a luxury villa with some of the region’s greatest outdoor adventures.

The group is based at one private villa for most of the week, with a single overnight away to properly explore Plitvice Lakes without the long same-day round trip that a shorter version of this itinerary would otherwise require. Guests unpack once at the villa and return each evening to their own private pool, wellness area, outdoor dining spaces and quiet surroundings.

From this base, each day reveals a different side of Croatia—suited equally to families, groups of friends and anyone who wants shared activity and time outdoors to be part of how the group bonds together.

Hike through the limestone landscapes of Paklenica. Paddle the Zrmanja River. Walk between the waterfalls and forests of Plitvice Lakes, with a full two days rather than a single exhausting one. Spend a full day exploring the Adriatic by private boat. Discover Zadar’s ancient streets and waterfront.

The below program is a sample itinerary and can be customized according to season, fitness level and the group’s preferred balance between activity and free time.

This is not a program where guests stay at the villa for most of the week. The accommodation provides the comfort; Croatia provides the adventure.

Day 1: Arrival & Settling In

~ Arrive at Zadar Airport, where the Stamps team will greet guests and transfer them privately to the villa.

The primary property sits approximately 15 km from Zadar and only a few minutes from Zadar Airport, making arrival day particularly straightforward.

⟣ Arrive at the property, receive a welcome from the Stamps team and settle into your room.

⚘ Spend the first afternoon discovering the grounds—wander through the olive garden, relax beside the pool or make use of the sauna, hot tub and wellness area.

⭒ Welcome refreshments, fresh fruit and light snacks will be available throughout the afternoon.

EVENING

☽ Gather for welcome drinks in the gardens as the group settles in and the week ahead is introduced.

⟣ Sit down around the large outdoor dining table for a Welcome Dinner prepared by the Stamps-arranged private chef.

The villa has both indoor and outdoor kitchens, including an outdoor fireplace and a dining table sized for the full group, making it particularly well suited to shared chef-led meals.

Day 2: Paklenica | Mountains, Canyon & Climbing

~ Begin with an early breakfast at the villa before traveling toward Paklenica National Park.

Starigrad-Paklenica is roughly a 35–45 minute drive from the Zadar area under normal conditions—one of the shortest transfers of the week.

MORNING ADVENTURE

⟣ Enter Velika Paklenica Canyon with a private mountain guide and begin the week’s first major adventure.

⚘ Follow a carefully selected trail through dramatic limestone walls, mountain streams and forest landscapes.

⭒ The route will be chosen according to the group’s ability, allowing the day to feel challenging without turning the first full day into an endurance test.

OPTIONAL CLIMBING EXPERIENCE

☽ Guests wanting an additional challenge can take part in an introductory rock-climbing session with Paklenica Avanturist, qualified local instructors based in Starigrad-Paklenica.

Paklenica is one of Croatia’s principal climbing areas and contains routes suitable for a wide range of ability levels, so a beginner program can run alongside the hiking day.

MIDDAY

⚘ Continue with a shorter scenic walk, or simply take the afternoon at an easier pace depending on conditions and the group’s energy.

Day 3: Zrmanja | River Adventure

~ Enjoy breakfast before traveling inland toward the Zrmanja River.

The principal Zrmanja rafting and kayaking departure area around Kaštel Žegarski is approximately an hour from Zadar, with Raftrek Adventure Travel running guided descents from this section of the river.

ZRMANJA RAFTING OR KAYAKING EXPEDITION

⟣ Meet the professional river team and receive all necessary equipment and a safety briefing.

⚘ Begin an approximately 14–14.5 km river journey through the canyon landscape, alternating between paddling, calmer water and more energetic sections depending on seasonal river levels.

⭒ Stop along the route for swimming and time beside the river.

Depending on the water level, the experience may operate by raft or kayak, so the final format should be confirmed closer to departure.

Day 4: Travel to Plitvice | First Exploration

~ Enjoy a relaxed morning at the villa before departing for Plitvice Lakes National Park around midday.

From the Zadar area the drive is approximately 1.5–2 hours. Rather than making this journey twice in a single day, the group makes it once today and once on the return leg tomorrow—the single biggest change from earlier versions of this itinerary, and the main reason the week now runs eight days instead of seven.

ARRIVAL & FIRST EXPLORATION

⟣ Check in to the selected nature lodge close to the park entrance and take some time to settle in.

⚘ Meet a private guide for an unhurried afternoon exploring the Lower Lakes, with time to properly stop at viewpoints rather than rushing to fit everything into one day.

⭒ Walk the wooden boardwalks between turquoise lakes and waterfalls as the afternoon light softens.

EVENING

☽ Return to the lodge with the rest of the afternoon free.

Day 5: Plitvice Lakes | Full Exploration & Return to the Villa

FULL MORNING AT PLITVICE

⚘ Cross sections of the lake system by the park’s electric boat, with time to pause at the panoramic viewpoints.

⭒ Because the group is not racing to fit the whole park into one day, the pace can be set by the slowest walker rather than the clock.

MIDDAY

Day 6: Adriatic Adventure | Private Boat & Kornati

Why is this now eight days instead of seven?

The extra day is used specifically to split the Plitvice Lakes excursion across two days instead of one. The previous single-day round trip involved three to four hours of driving on top of a full day of walking. By traveling to Plitvice on Day 4, staying overnight, and returning on Day 5, the same experience becomes considerably more comfortable, with each leg of the drive done separately and in daylight.

Is the villa private for our group?

Yes. Whichever property is selected, it is booked for exclusive use, meaning the group has private use of the house, garden, pool and wellness facilities throughout the stay. At Villa Premasole, a separate Cottage Premasole exists elsewhere on the wider estate, but it has its own entrance, parking, fenced garden and pool and faces a different direction, so it does not affect the group’s privacy.

How many guests can stay?

Villa Premasole accommodates 16+ guests across eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Villa Calma I & II is optimal at 16, and Villa Aurea & Serena takes up to 20.

Is the villa directly beside the sea?

That depends on which property is selected. Villa Premasole is deliberately a countryside property, around 15 km from Zadar and under 20 minutes from the first beaches, which buys greater privacy and space. Villa Calma and Villa Aurea & Serena are both directly on the water.

Is a private chef included with the house?

Not automatically at any of the three properties. Stamps contracts the private chef separately and incorporates that service into the package.

Does every bedroom have a bathroom?

At all three properties every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom.

How active is the program?

This is an active itinerary. Guests should be comfortable with several hours of walking, kayaking or rafting and full days outdoors. No specialist athletic ability is required for the core program.

Does everyone have to do every activity?

No. Alternative arrangements can be made where practical for guests who prefer to sit out a particular activity, and the villa is always available as a base.

Is this suitable for families with children?

Yes, with some adjustment. The walking routes can all be shortened, the boat day suits all ages, and the rafting section should be reviewed against the ages of the children before confirming.

What happens if the river conditions are unsuitable?

Zrmanja activities depend on water levels and environmental conditions. The operating format may switch between rafting and kayaking, or another activity may be substituted if necessary.

Is there enough downtime?

Yes, more than in the seven-day version of this itinerary. Splitting the Plitvice excursion across two days removes the single most tiring day of the week, and most evenings return to the villa. The pool, sauna, hot tub and gardens give guests genuine recovery time between excursions.

Can the villa host group meals and gatherings?

Yes. All three properties have indoor and outdoor communal spaces, including living rooms, terraces, gardens and outdoor dining tables sized for the full group. Any group requiring a specific indoor layout for structured sessions should confirm exact usable floor space with Stamps before contracting.

Can we add another night?

Yes. An extra night works particularly well as a free day at the villa—a late breakfast, pool time, optional massage, a long chef-prepared lunch and a slower afternoon before the final evening. Guests can also add nights in Split or Zagreb through the Extend Your Stay program.

Are national-park entrance fees included?

Entrance fees for the confirmed program can be included in the final package.

Can dietary requirements be accommodated?

Yes. Dietary requirements and allergies should be provided in advance so the private chef and selected restaurants can prepare accordingly.

When is the best time to travel?

Late spring through early autumn offers the strongest conditions for combining mountains, rivers and the Adriatic. River levels on the Zrmanja vary through the season and should be considered when selecting dates.
